Evaluation Question 3 - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

A production company provides the main basis for works in the fields of film, TV, radio etc. The production company may be directly responsible for fundraising for the production or may accomplish this through a parent company or an outside investor. Most often, the production company for films and television provide the money, and thus set the budget, and may also make decisions on what director, and actors can be hired. Budget often makes other decisions possible or impossible.The production company, therefore shepherds the specific project from concept to completion.They are the group who are responsible for the project, as well as being the group who reap the financial rewards for it. We decided to call our production company "Spine Chiller Productions". This is because it has an unnerving and weird feeling to it. It is also very effective in grabbing the viewers attention as it is very catchy. The logo for our production company is very effective in catching the viewers attention as the font used and the colour combinations used make it a very appropriate logo as it goes with the name of the production company.

At the start of our film, credits are shown informing the audience of the names of the people who were involved with the film and who had what role. Our credits appear one after another, but with gaps in between them, giving the audience enough time to read them and take them in. The credits in our final film are as follows:

The credits in the film are shown in order of importance. So the first one, "DIRECTED BY Jaspreet Hanspal". The director has the most important role in the production of any media product, therefore as Jaspreet was the Director, her credits came up first. Second, "CAMERAMAN Sahir Ahmed" is the second most important role in the production, therefore this was the second credit. Thirdly, "EDITED BY Ahmed Khan", this was the third most important role, hence why this one came third.




A film distributor is a company or individual responsible for releasing films to the public either theatrically or for home viewing. If the film distributor owns theaters or film distribution networks then they may distribute directly, and if not, then they may distribute through theatrical exhibitors and other sub-distributors. Some of the possible distributors we could use are Sky. Channels such as Sky Thriller or Sky Horror would be perfect for us to distribute our film, as the channel is appropriate to our film and the viewers who are watching movies on the channel already, will have a keen interest in the genre of our film. Our target audience would also shop at certain shops which may be able to distribute our film in DVD form. Shops and outlets such as HMV, attract a lot of teenage customers so getting them to distribute our media product would be extremely effective.

Some of the production companies we could team up with are, 'Lionsgate' films, 'DreamWork Pictures' or 'Dimension Films'. These production companies would be ideal for distributing our film, as they have already had a large amount of experience in producing Horror/Thriller movies. They have made movies such as 'Saw'. This film franchise has become one of the most well-known franchises in this country, therefore this shows that the companies I am suggesting here, would be very effective in producing our film.
